| Part 1: First Look |
MSRP: $54.95 Website: www.eduard.cz Direct link to product. Eduard has established a product called Big ED that is a combination of individual sets at a reduced price. That is what we have here. This set includes the 36062 Detail set, 36066 Tool Boxes, 36067 engine set. The combined MSRP for the individual sets is $77.85 for a savings of $22.90. What a deal! The basic detail set 36062 starts out with floor detail that gives more detail in that area. For the spare tire there appears to be two options. The frame that comes with the Trumpeter kit is modified or a enclosed box with added detail on the outside. The rifle base holder is a replacement for the PE included with the kit. In the build that I will be doing I will compare the two pieces and use the one that gives the best detail and the easiest assembly. |
There is a replacement for the instrument panel that uses a print that is sandwiched between the dashboard and the PE instrument panel. The next part is the pioneer tool holders and lid latches and locks. On the sitting area there are additional details to depict the tie down loops and chain link "doors". |
The final part of this set is basic updates for the windshield, tie down loops on the rear frame, rear tire splash guards, more tie down loops on the basket, and updated lamps and convoy taillights. The tool box set 36066 creates the drawers that go into the rear portion of the halftrack. This is a very special part of the PE Kit. These can be positioned in the open position and you can add any sort of items, including the set of tools that come with this set. The diorama possibilities are tremendous with this set. |
The engine set 36067 replaces the plastic grill with one that is open and allows you to see into the radiator area. Then the set places a textured front to the radiator since you can now see it. The second part of the set adds details to the engine directly and to certain parts in the engine area. |
The last part is to replace the plastic hood sides with PE parts. These are louvered and you can sort of see through it, but not very well. If you put both sides on, that defeats the purpose of detailing the engine because you can't see the engine anymore. I will install only one side so that both the detailed engine and the louvered hood can be seen. This set will add an extra dimension to the Trumpeter kit. I will be building the Trumpeter kit with this Eduard Big Ed set with the idea to hook up the large artillery piece to it with the back tool area open and a couple of soldiers using the tools to fix something. Keep watching the review section for the build review to follow shortly. Many thanks to Eduard for the review sample and IPMS/USA for the review space. The build is coming soon! |
