New from Model Rectifier Corporation: · Italeri #550746 1/24 Peterbuilt 378, MSRP: $69.00 Available (End of June) 2008.( read pdf flyer )
Model Rectifier Corporation is truly thrilled to announce the Limited Edition release of one of Italeri’s and US truck modelers most popular kits: The Peterbuilt 378 plastic kit in 1/24 scale.
Due to the number of requests we had, Italeri produced this custom “378” kit especially for us.
The meticulously sculpted heavy hauler is a virtual icon on our highways, built with many aerodynamic features to minimize drag.
It has the “classic” Peterbuilt look, and spacious sleeper cab.
Usually powered by a 350-500 hp Caterpillar engine, a Cummins or Detroit Diesel could be found in some units as well.
Based on customer recommendations, Italeri gave us the features we wanted, so the kit comes “in the white” to be able to paint and decorate it as the modeler sees fit.
A really nice decal set is included too.
At 1/24 scale, this is an impressive kit, highly detailed with enough chrome plating to satisfy any “trucky”.

Quickboost Detail Sets · QB 48-166 1/48 P-400 Aircobra Gun Barrels, MSRP $7.00
The Hasegawa P-39/P-400 family of kits are the best versions of this maligned fighter plane.
There are certain details that you just can't do with plastic.
One of these limitations is molding gun barrels along with the other parts in a sprue comprised of halves.
This causes, in the best cases, a small seam along the barrel, or a worse case of a misaligned out of round barrel devoid of detail.
Resin allows you to mold the guns without the seam and never out of round.
You can also add cooling vents and other details.
These parts are molded in light grey resin with no bubbles and blemish free.
The four gun barrel parts are drop in replacements for the kit parts. Just remove them from the pour blocks and add them to the kit. You get two wing guns, two cowl guns and a spinner gun. Everything you that you would need to up gun your model. · QB 48-168 1/48 Messerschmitt Me-410 Exhaust, MSRP $7.00
The 1/48th scale Pro-Modeler/Monogram Me-410 is a very nice kit but even a nice kit could use some help from resin.
Quickboost provides four separate exhausts including the exhaust shield.
The exhausts are molded in bubble free light grey resin.
The exhausts are hollowed out and look great.
The shields are nicely molded and are suitably thin.
How they were able to mold the exhausts and the shields as one piece is beyond me.
There is nothing to say bad about these little gems. Simply remove them from the pour stubs, sand and paint them, add a little bit of super glue and attach to the model. It is that simple. These will add a nice little bit of detail to your model with very little work. If you have never used resin before this is a very good way to try it. Both sets are highly recommended. Thanks to Quickboost for the review copy. You can obtain yours by visiting their website at www.quickboost.net or through your local hobby shop. Reviewed by Floyd S. Werner, Jr., IPMS #26266 |

Not much to say about these masks that haven't been said before concerning Eduard's 'kabuki' masks.
Accept no substitutes; don't mask your canopies without one.
Or, if you must, use the Tamiya tape which seems to be what these are made of.
You would think this is a plain set of masks - stick them on, paint and remove, but, Eduard being Eduard, there is a little more available if you choose. The package contains two sets of canopy masks. I figured this out by looking on the reverse of the instruction sheet. Ha. First, you mask the inside of the canopy, spray the interior color, then spray the 'rubber color'. I like the Czech better: "barva gumy". Sounds like rubber. Then you can mask and spray the outside colors. Being the simple-minded modeler that I am, this confused me for a while but then I figured out it was to show, from the outside, a trace of interior color and the rubber lining. Thanks to Eduard for the review sample. Michael Scott, IPMS 43177 |
