MSRP: $24.95 Web Site: www.revell.com BATTLESTAR GALACTICA … what young boy [and us older "boys" also, Ed.] in 1978 and 1979 didn't know what a Viper, Cylon, or a daggit was? I was glued to every episode when it aired. I still have eight of the original Cylon Raiders in my collection. Some have the launching missiles and some do not. This 30th Anniversary release has some changes to the original model. All of the changes are for the good. The first and most noticeable is the addition of clear parts. The canopy is now a clear part. You will have to cut it up to raise it. However, as they also include a complete cockpit and pilot figure, you may want to do this. The other clear parts are three disks to cover the new engine exhaust nozzles. The final change is the beautiful decal sheet. You get decals for the cockpit display screen, a special set of decals for the Pegasus Silver Spar Squadron, more striping, and crew names for the series pilots. The box contains a total of 24 grey styrene parts and four clear ones. This looks to be a great WEEKEND build project. Of course, with the new cockpit and canopy, those of you who desire to light this baby up will take slightly longer. Super Kudos goes to Revell for not just releasing the same kit a third time. The additional effort on the cockpit and decals are a pleasant and welcome addition. Special thanks to Revell for the review sample and IPMS/USA for a place to review the kit. By the way…A daggit is a mechanical dog/bear creature named Muffit. |
