MSRP: $15.00 Web Site: www.afterburnerdecals.com Ever since the War on Terror began in October 2001, there has been a plethora of combat aircraft used in the fight. And modelers ever since have been wanting the latest markings of the planes used in the theaters of Iraq and Afghanistan. Afterburner Decals has come through again with their latest release for the Boeing F-15E Strike Eagle. This very comprehensive sheet is sized for the Revell 1/48 F-15E kits. Four aircraft are covered, three from the 366th Fighter Wing, and one for the 12th Air Force Commanding Officer.
There are enough decals to complete two aircraft with stenciling and slime lights. The Bagram Airfield bird has mission markings in the shape of bombs. All of the decals are very crisply printed and right on register. The slime lights are the correct shade of greenish/yellow. The main sheet is printed by Microscale in their usual high quality. The Microscale system of solvents are the only chemicals recommended. The national insignias are printed on a small sheet and they are done by Cartograph. And the tiny 'Let's Roll' decal is printed by Archer Fine Transfers. They are very high quality also. Included with the decals are two sheets of color and marking guides for all the aircraft. One page is dedicated solely to stencil markings. Another very useful inclusion is a weapons and stores configuration chart. Afterburner does admit that what they show is just a sampling of the many possibilities that the F-15E has carried into combat.
This is a very high quality decal set of subjects that are very timely. I highly recommend these to anyone who wishes to add today's F-15E to their model collection. I would like to thanks Scott and Afterburner Decals for the review sample! |
