Guidelines for Submission of Photographs
to the IPMS/ USA Events Gallery

Images must be in electronic format (no printed photos). Images must be in either JPEG or GIF format, and may be no larger than 600 pixels wide. Blurred, poorly lit, or low quality images will not be displayed. Images should be saved to a CD and snail mailed to the Mike Lindsey.

General Information regarding images to be submitted:
Size:Shoot the images to any size and resolution that you wish. For use on the web site images will be reduced to 640x480. It is not necessary that you "size" the images before they are submitted. Resizing is just one step in the steps taken to produce a gallery.

Composition: Fill the viewfinder with a single model. This is particularly true of figures, armor, and ships. They represent a distinct challenge to a photographer who cannot move the piece to compose the shot, but do the best you can to get more model and less space around the model.
Background: Be aware of what is in the background of your image. Try to avoid catching a visitor whose position in the image will be uncomplimentary to them, or a distraction away from the model.
Flash: When in doubt use a flash. More often than not images are underexposed rather than overexposed. Be aware that display cases will reflect light back at the camera, so if you have to shoot through a display case avoid doing so through a surface at 90 degrees to the camera.
White Balance: Be sure to set your white balance, otherwise the images will be blue, green, and mostly unusable.

Criteria:
There is no cap on the number of images that can be included in a gallery. We suggest more than 100images and less than 300 images. Please include images of people, activities, Speakers and Presenters, and any other subject that makes your contest/show unique. You are encouraged to include an explanation of events captured in the images. We will make every effort to select those entries which exhibit superior craftsmanship, but we remind our viewers that the idea is to present a representative cross-section of our membership. Therefore, selected photographs may include work by Beginners and Intermediate Level modelers, as well as those of our "Masters". Final selections for inclusion on the Events Gallery pages will be made solely at the discretion of the Associate Webmaster. Submissions will be accepted from current IPMS/USA Members in Good Standing only. There is no submission deadline for the Events Gallery, but we suggest submitting the image collection at your earliest convenience and as quickly after the event as is feasible.

Info:
Submit your images via snail mail to the Events Gallery Associate Webmaster. Submissions can be stored and shipped on CD, Zip disk (100 MB only), Jump Drive and 3.5 floppy. The storage media will not be returned without a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Sending images via e-mail is not advisable due to local ISP limitations.
